It was not an untypical charge!
The meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of Friends of Children with RHD was the last public function Dr. Zahira attended. By that time she had been bed ridden for many months, but her agile brains and unyielding concern for the public weal had never flagged... and long as breath and wit she had, she would not miss out on any such functions as for which she felt the Call... With the Association that she had founded 45 years before, in 1957, she was sure to respond to an urge that could not go unheeded.... and fragile as she might have been, she insisted on being there... At the center of those wheeling Dr. Abdin is Dr. Ahmad Qutb, the Vice President of the Association, and a loyal and dedicated soul who had overseen the growth and flowering of many a project at her side... and who belongs to a fortunate generation that had drunk at the well of Zahira's inspired learning and training....
Less than a week later, Zahira was taken to what would turn out to be the last of her many emergency room stays from whence, less than one week later, she would finally been delivered of her worldly cares... and return to her eternal home...
